Candle Varinaces
As with all our Natural Scented candles and Wax Melts, these container candles are handmade from natural ingredients and as such colours may vary.
Please Note: Due to the natural properties of soy wax, slight shrinkage or "wet spots" (where the wax pulls away from the glass) may occur during temperature changes. This is a common characteristic of 100% natural soy and does not affect the quality, burn time, or fragrance of your candle.
Candle Care
Before You Light
- Trim the Wick: Always trim the wick to about 5-7mm (1/4 inch) before every single burn. This prevents high flames, soot, and "mushrooming" at the tip.
- Check the Surface: Ensure the wax pool is free of debris like matches or old wick trimmings, as these can act as dangerous secondary wicks.
- Placement: Set your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface. Keep it away from children and pet and drafts such as open windows, and flammable items like curtains.
The Critical "First Burn"
- Set the Memory: On your first light, let the candle burn until the entire top layer of wax has melted into a liquid pool reaching from edge to edge.
- Prevent Tunnelling: If you extinguish it too early, the candle will "tunnel" (burn straight down the middle), wasting the wax on the sides for the rest of its life.
- Duration: This typically takes 2–4 hours depending on the size of the container until melted wax reaches the edge of the container.
Safe Burning Habits
- Time Limits: Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. Overheating can damage the fragrance or even cause the glass container to crack.
- Never Leave Unattended: Always keep a burning candle in sight and extinguish it before leaving the room or going to bed.
- Stay Centred: If the wick starts to drift to one side, extinguish the flame and re-centre it while the wax is still liquid to ensure an even burn next time. Take care not to touch or splash the hot wax.
Extinguishing and Storing
- Use a Snuffer: If possible, use a candle snuffer or non-flammable lid to put out the flame. This prevents hot wax from splattering and reduces lingering smoke.
- Let it Cool: Never move or touch a candle while the wax is still liquid.
- Store with a Lid: Once completely cooled, cover with a lid to keep out dust and preserve the fragrance. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Knowing When to Say Goodbye
- The Final Stop: Discontinue use when there is about 1cm (1/2 inch) of wax remaining at the bottom. Burning it all the way down can cause the bottom of the container to overheat and break.
